Talk with kids about things that matterTake time to chat with children about what's going on in the world, their countries, and their communities. Discuss how the issues in the news relate to them (e.g., elections, global warming, civil/human rights, health care, war). Have a conversation about favorite books or art or music. Listen to their views and questions and share your own. Show them how to find accurate, reliable information. Treating kids as intelligent, thinking members of society helps them develop into active, informed global citizens. Whether you volunteer in a classroom, talk with younger cousins at a family event, or find another way to connect with a child, you can help to cultivate the next generation's leadership right now. |
