Making Sport Accessible for AllThose who have had privileged experiences in sport, most likely, have also been insulated from forms of oppression that would otherwise prevent the opportunities they had. One’s sex/gender, race, nationality, socio-economic status, sexuality, or ability can easily exclude them from participation given the structure and exclusiveness of many sport organizations and programs around the world today. Additionally, sport continues to become increasingly commercialized and the true value in these physically active activities is getting lost in favour of capitalism. If we challenge both the exclusiveness and commercialization of sport, it can be made more accessible to all. |
